HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, SINGAPORE!!!

haha.. okay.. i'm late..
but i'm late at blogging only..
i was at padang lor..
heh
haha..

thanks to sherm, i was intro to tis 'job'
it was to do ushering for those watching the parade from padang..
its actually from ntuc young..
but thanks to this job..
i got to see many many ugly singaporeans..

firstly.. because we needed ppl to do the cresent n stars..
we had some special volunteers to come earlier to fill up the cresent and stars..
these volunteers were given another special light..
white light that blinks..
so we had to settle them down first..
but because the cresent and stars require some family to 'split up' by a bit..
we had to move ppl to the front..
and as usual..
typical singaporeans cannot survive without sitting SIDE BY SIDE with their family and friends..
they INSIST on sitting beside each other when they are SPECIAL volunteers given the priviledge to be part of the cresent and stars..
nvm if they don't wanna move..
there were those who wouldnt move even if they are just half a square more front than the family member / friend beside them! (each person was given one square on the whole mat to sit in)
so can u imagine how irritated we were?!
i mean.. its just HALF A SQUARE!
nevermind if they don't wanna move that half square..
we offered seats for some groups to sit two rows horizontally in threes..
but they INSIST that they must sit in two rows vertically in pairs!
and so.. they will have to make us look for a lone ranger (which is highly impossible!) to fill up ONE square in front of them, when 2 of them could have actually move to another two squares at the back such that we can allow a group of 3 to take up that 3 squares..

such is an attitude of special volunteers who have supposedly rehearsed to form cresent and stars..
unless u tell me a cresent of star is formed by having 4-6 people in a square and rectangle..
or that squares and rectangles can form a cresent or a star..
if not its highly impossible!
why make life miserable for yourself and for us?!?!

nvm about that..
we tried out best and manage to fill up the empty boxes later on to form the whole flag..

it drizzled abit just before the parade started..
i wouldnt say its a small rain..
coz its abit smaller than a small rain..
but then maybe a heavy drizzle? =X

people start making way tot the tentage area formed for giving out goodie bags..
nvm if they move out from their box and occupy those tents..
many of them put on poncho but still wanted to take shelter..
nvm nvm..
when the rain became smaller..
we urge the people to come out..
and guess what..
they say they wont because they have kids and old folks!
HELLO!!
its like... what the hell?!?!
den u might as well go check the weather forecast first before coming then!
i mean ppl at marina bay are not moving out from the floating platform!
its not only because the tix are hard to come by..
but i also believe they wanna watch the efforts put in by the coordinators and the many people who have trained so hard for the parade..
but ppl at padang?
just because they're not at the floating platform they feel that they can simply walk off??
just because the ppl at the floating platform are not 'entertaining' you enough so you can just not give a damn about the feelings that they've put in just for ALL those watching?!?!
kids and old folks are good reasons for staying in the shelter huh..
i understand old folks..
but kids..
although their immune system may not be as strong as teenagers..
but they are wearing a poncho!
they are not gg to get drench in the rain!
and its not like u can protect them forever..
kids needa learn and grow from experience!
and this is like the best chance for kids to stay in the rain..
to show how much they love their country!

nvm bout them..
i have ppl coming up to me and asking me when can they leave!
because they know that if they leave at that time (which was halfway through the performance)..
they cant bring out their goodie bag with them..
wth?!
there were people leaving and wanting to leave even before the parade start!
i seriously dun understand what are they thinking..
and we even had the auxiliary police coming up to us to tell us to put back some goodie bags because they caught ppl trying to sneak off after getting their goodie bags!
haiz..

such is the UGLY side of singaporeans..
the handful of the population and disfigures the country as a whole..

but still..
there are still some people who actually are concerned in helping us put up a good show!
there were two girls who actually came up to us to tell us that there are actually two empty boxes in the middle of the red section..
and the majority of the people present who din squeeze into the tents (maybe because not enough space) & din move out from their boxes..
i believe all the officials and coordinators were grateful to these people..
they were helpful and they did help us alot..
it may seem like nothing..
but when we saw the flag shining brightly on the screen..
we were kinda glad..
although its pretty obvious that there were some holes in it..
but we were glad that the worst did not happen..
i mean.. any things worst than this could have happen..
but we're glad that the people were able to help us..

so on the whole..
this job has really been a good experience..
people always use the phrase typical singaporeans..
although it has been a common phrase to describe singaporeans..
but do we really feel happy when ppl use it on us??
this phrase is used when we do certain selfish acts..
should we continue allowing ppl to use the phrase to describe such act??
why don't we do charity as a whole country and have ppl praising us by using the phrase "typical singaporeans"?
wouldn't this be much better??
after 43 years of formation..
are the people of this country changing for the better..
or for the worst???

hmmm..
i wonder......
